We follow the guidance of the American Dental Association and recommend kids first see the dentist within six months of getting their first baby tooth, or by age one at the latest.
Positive Dental Experiences
How we approach your child during their first few dental visits sets the tone for all future experiences. Our goal is to gain their trust and show them there's nothing to fear about dental visits. Our dentist might count their teeth at this visit, show them the little mirror, and give them a ride in the dental chair.
As your child adjusts to all the new faces and the dental office environment, we'll incorporate teeth cleanings and exams. These appointments are also the perfect time to ask questions about your child's dental development. Our dentists will also offer advice and recommendations to help you give your child the healthiest start possible.

We are pleased to offer comprehensive dentistry for children and teens that includes:
- Dental exams and cleanings: Dental examinations every six months help us find and treat cavities as soon as possible. Teeth cleanings remove plaque buildup to promote healthy teeth and gums.
- Tooth-colored fillings: If your child gets a cavity, we should treat it as soon as possible to preserve the tooth. Using a composite resin filling allows us to complete a virtually invisible repair.
- Dental sealants: A sealant is a thin layer of protective plastic applied to the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars. These teeth have deep grooves and pits that trap bacteria and cause cavities, and a sealant creates a protective barrier and smooths the tooth's surface.
- Fluoride applications: Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens and protects teeth against decay. Your child may already receive sufficient fluoride, but if not, we will apply a supplement fluoride varnish to make sure their teeth stay healthy.
